November’s Site of the Month is an Iconic Scottish Landmark

Inveraray Castle is November’s Site of the Month after our assessor David visited his Construction Site Management candidate Joe at the iconic site.

November’s site of the month comes from our assessor David’s visit to the gorgeous Inveraray Castle. He was visiting his Construction Site Management candidate Joe, who is the Building manager at the Castle.

Inveraray Castle has been standing on the shores of Loch Fyne since the 1400s. The foundation stone was laid in 1746 and what followed was the construction of a truly modern, baroque, Palladian and Gothic-style castle, architecturally before its time. The castle we know today was the result of a fire in 1877, which resulted in the addition of the third floor and conical roofs on the corner towers. Joe turned out to be a great tour guide, telling David all about the history and showing him the amazing grounds. David told us he got to see the outside of the castle, the old sawmill building (including all the old machinery) and a few of the other properties on the 50,000 acres that is owned by the Duke of Argyll.

It’s great to see one of our candidates managing the buildings and construction of such an iconic Scottish landmark.

Our SVQ Level 4: Construction Site Management programme is funded under the Modern Apprenticeship scheme in Scotland. It involves candidates attending 5 workshops which cover the knowledge and understanding aspects of the VQ. These sessions have proven to be key to our candidates due to the opportunity to share experiences and learn from others in a similar role. In addition, candidates will have a handful of 1:1 sessions with their assessor and an onsite visit.

At Esteem we want all our candidates to feel supported and to get the most out of their VQ. We invest in the candidate journey and offer not just a qualification but a unique supportive experience.
