Accelerated Learning

Our workshops are interactive and participative. There are activities in small groups giving you the opportunity to meet and learn from others. We use Accelerated Learning as the basis for all our workshops which gives you a more creative, positive and enjoyable experience.

Accelerated Learning has been around since the 1930s and has been well researched and developed. It is based on the facts assimilated over the last 50 years on how the human brain functions and therefore the learning capacities of individuals. It is built around the 7 learning intelligences and can be applied to all aspects of learning and communication. Methods and delivery of "learning" must match the thinking and learning styles of individuals. The aim must be to give people facts and skills but also the means and confidence to find out for themselves. 

Exploring the theory of multiple intelligences, Howard Gardner (Harvard Professor) asked the question "How would the proverbial Martian landing on Earth view the intelligence of the human species?"

Would he demand to know the individual IQs? Or would he/it be interested in those humans performing exceptionally well in particular fields – the chess master, the orchestral conductors or athlete? These accomplished people are undoubtedly considered to be talented and intelligent. Why then do our methods of assessing intelligence often fail to identify them?

Why is it that people with IQs of 160 end up working for people with IQs of 100?

Gardner developed the "Theory of Multiple Intelligences" which says, in effect, that IQ should not be measured as an absolute figure in the way that height, weight or blood pressure are. Its crucial blunder, he maintains to assume that IQ is a single fixed entity which can be measured by a pencil and paper test.

It is not how smart you are but how you are smart.

Colin Rose wrote the orginal book "Accelerated Learning" in 1983 and founded Accelerated Learning Systems Ltd. His work has provided the foundation for this school of thought. We have used his philosophy and framework in all our workshop design and delivery since 1990. We believe that "your learning power depends on your learning power".
